UNITY 3

This is the third sermon on unity. God is unified. Unity is an aspect of His holiness in the Trinity. It defies description. We find God in unity of the things He ordains—marriage, church. (People, of course can opt out of unity because of free will.) In Philippians 2:1-4, Paul tasks us with being a unified church in the Holy Spirit. Given God’s love, the strength and truth of the Gospel, our suffering in Jesus, and the help of God, we are to strengthen unity through humility of action. In John 17:22-23, Jesus states, “I have given them the glory that you gave me , that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity.” We will be perfected in our unity with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We should all want this!
