THE CREATION 2—JOB

February 8, 2026

Last week we talked about the creation process, God as an engineer. How He built a creation and an system to support it simultaneously. This week we will talk about the precision of the creation process as delineated by God in the Book of Job. How God did it and how God views it. Specifically, chapters 38-41, when God questions Job. In fact, God questions Job about his understanding of creation in the order of creation itself, as described in Genesis 1. Essentially, God is addressing Job’s skepticism and complaints of injustice. In His questions, we see how God describes his work of creation, the substance, timing, proportion and function of creation. Beginning in 38:4, God asks, “where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?” Then God questions Job further in chapters 38-39 on the formation of light/dark, the heavens, weather, habits of animals. All in the order of creation, as specified in Genesis. Job, of course, cannot answer God’s questions. Finally, in chapter 40, God addresses the crux of the discussion, Job’s claims of injustice. God does not answer the why question but, instead, humiliates Job about his lack of knowledge of the creation. The implications being, that if you do not understand how I did My creation, then how can you comment on or understand My justice. And Job is humbled by God and develops the appropriate reverence, when he states in 42:3, “Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.”
