THE CREATION

Creation is foundational to EVERYTHING in the Bible. God built creation and the system that governs it simultaneously. The purpose of this sermon is to communicate the power and might of God and the care and planning He put into creation. By studying creation we can better understand God, because we are here, in fact, to worship God. In Genesis, Moses is matter of fact about creation. Many things are assumed: God’s power but also the Trinity is hinted at very early in the description (Genesis 1:2, Genesis 3:8). The basic assumption of evolutionary theory is that life can develop from non-life, that a huge explosion initiated the process. This seems more unlikely then the miracle of God’s creation and certainly less comforting. A careful reading of the first two chapters of Genesis reveals the systematic process of God’s creation. After discussing the order of creation, Joe moves to the book of Job, where God clearly defends His creation.
