What Christmas Is

December 21, 2025

Christmas is much bigger in scope than we are led to believe by modern culture. God sends His son to show us how to live, to fulfill a law made necessary by a man (Adam) who could not keep one command. Jesus’ birth (and death and resurrection) forever changed the course of history and ushered in a religion that has arguably forever bettered mankind as a whole. Even at the time, the birth was so important that an august group of scholars traveled overland a great distance to give gifts. And not just ordinary gifts but gifts fit for a king: gold because He is king, frankincense as an offering to God, and myrrh, an embalming spice, that foreshadows Christ’s death. In fact, the Magi follow a supernova to reach God’s son, WOW! If ever you want to feel the power of God, think about these events being orchestrated. In addition, a Jewish scholar of the time would have known that the Birth of Jesus fulfilled over 400 prophecies, not the least of which is in Isaiah 9:6: “For unto us a child is born, for unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” Christmas is a critical point in God’s grand strategy, the birth of His son, the one thing Satan cannot ever corrupt. Don’t miss the monumental nature of this birth! God Himself shows up to give us everlasting hope and to show us how He meant us to live.
